Although this may change soon, Sail of Faith is essentially Captain Mike Brown's blog.
It is important for anyone attempting to write a Christian Blog for sailors to be a sailor. Captain Mike is an accomplished sailor and knows how sailors think. He holds a US Coast Guard 50-ton ocean master Captain's license and is an American Sailing certified sailing instructor. He is certified to teach all levels of sailing and has Instructor Evaluator status within the American Sailing Association. ASA selected Captain Mike as Instructor of the Year five times based on student surveys. Captain Mike has over 47,000 nautical miles of ocean experience, plus more time sailing on inland waters. Captain Mike is the founder of three American Sailing Association-affiliated sailing schools: Delmarva Sailing School, Nockamixon Sailing School, and Virgin Islands Sailing Academy, which have taught thousands of people to sail. Most of Captain Mike's teaching experience is with sailors in a live-aboard program, where students live on the boat as they travel to various destinations and learn to sail.
Regarding Christianity, Captain Mike is a lifelong Christian and values high-quality education. Captain Mike is enrolled in a Master of Religion Program at Cairn University. https://cairn.edu/mar/. Per Cairn's website, "the program at Cairn University equips students with a broad foundational education in the inerrant Word of God and in the key doctrines of the Christian faith. It prepares students for teaching, preaching, and other ministries in the local church". Even though the Christian education provided at Cairn is evangelical in nature, our blog postings will promote unity, cooperation, and understanding among different Christian denominations, particularly Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians. Captain Mike has no ministry other than this Blog, but he is very excited about what he is learning at Cairn University and wants to share these faith-based messages with other Christian sailors to help them better understand Christianity and live as Christ wants sailors to live.
